I Gotta Give The Big Guy Props On This One!

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

hippo.jpgPicture this… The Big Guy, all 6′6″ of him, standing there watching the ladies dance… with each other. Um-huh, with each other and in no way do I mean a friendly be boppin’ kinda way but a bump and grindin’ kind of way!

Yes, The Big Guy and I had a date night on Sunday evening. And where did we go you ask? To one of the number 1, most premiere, oldest nightclub’s around our lovely city… The Hippo. The Hippo??????? Yes that would be a gay bar. We had a flippin blast.

We actually went with another married couple, heterosexual, who we have known for a very long time. We met a bunch of female couples that our friends go to church with. But it was seriously a good time had by all. The music was loud as hell, it was very smoky indeed and the dance floor was rocking. It took me right on back to my younger days!

And I would like to state a fact that in no way did I get up on a speaker and dance my ass off with a transgendered, horribly dressed individual like someone else I know. You know who you are!!!!! Hahahahahaha.

The Big Guy totally got checked out a few times. He just smiled and laughed it off. He is very secure in his “man hood”. Now he didn’t get a drink bought for him like a certain other male person, but thats the breaks. And you know who you are as well! (and now you can cross that off your “to accomplish in life” list).

I would totally go back! But this time I will not wear high heels cause my feet are still aching. GD bunions! I don’t think in his younger years The Big Guy would have gone for it, but he was cool this time around. I think secretly he was hoping to see some young, attractive, tightly dressed lady couples. You know that whole “every man’s dream” thing… I have no idea what he saw but it sure did get me some sweet lovin’, hahahahaha!

Life Is Just Really Damn Cool Sometimes!

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

You want to hear something really cool?  I have known my best friend for as long as she has been alive, almost 32 years.  And her 2 older brothers were like my brothers.  We grew up together, their family and mine.  We did vacations together, light-sticks.jpgsports, the pool, school, church and countless other activities.  Our parents were even in each other’s weddings.  Not many people can say that!

Here comes the really neat part, now our kids play together.  Uh huh, we all have children now and they all play and do the very same activities that we used to do.  We were even all at the beach  last week and had a damn good time laughing at our kids throwing light sticks around after dark and sitting on the lifegaurds chair.  They even got to ride the rides together.

And you know those embarrassing pictures?  The bathtub ones.  We have so many of those.  How the hell did 5 kids fit in a bathtub at the same time?  But there we were.  Bubbles, floating body parts and all smiles.   It is just so damn cool to see our kids together scrub a dub dubbing the same way!  I can’t way for them to laugh at the pictures when they have their own.

I guess I am pretty darn lucky in this way.  To know someone your whole life, it is so special.  No cattiness, no fakeness, no weirdness or tension.  We are who we are, and we have such a comfortableness.  It is really awesome!

A Little Flippin’ Speedbump We Like To Call “Summer Break”

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

I’m headed towards a “blogging breakdown”. My head has been hitting the pillow with thoughts of “I need to get on my Gaga site and write, I have something to share and why isn’t there more time in the day”. I know that you can all relate!

speedbump.jpgY’all are in the same boat I am sure. Your lives have hit a little bump called summer break. So on top of all your duties and everyday life, you have to cart kids around, entertain their friends, supply 100 lbs of snack foods a day, listen to bitching and moaning, and break up fights of siblings that are use to their time apart. Ahhh….. summer!

Beautiful, right? No, I do love summer, the pool, the sun, swim team, my kids and their friends laughing in the backyard and I can’t forget grilling. But, oy am I dragging ass. My kids get up sooooo early everyday and go, go, go much like their mommy. I guess I can only blame myself. Why couldn’t they get The Big Guy’s sloth like personality, hahaha?

So, yeah. My blog has been hurting. I guess because I have a requirement and contract to keep up on my professional ones and 800 emails a day that go along with the whole editor thing, this is where I will drop the ball every once in a while. But I don’t wanna!!!!!

Keep me straight my fellow mommy blogging friends. Yell at me or something. Kick my ass into high writing gear, please? I miss y’all so…. And let’s start a petition to make 30 hours in every day, hahahhaha :p.

I Am A Self Professed Deadbeat Blogger!

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Do you ever feel like you blink and it is freakin’ Friday again? Seriously? Where the hell does the week go? Ugh, I just want to catch my breath. Okay, I will stop my bitching, I feel better already just having said that!

sorry.jpgOnce again, I feel as if I have been a no good blogger. I have definitely lost my mojo for Gaga this week and my zest for surfing around all my fave blogs. You know who you are! I have been an absent presence over the last week.

But not to worry. You were not just another notch on my keyboard, haha. I miss all that is going on in your crazy lives and am going to make time this weekend to catch up. You know it’s bad when The Big Guy knows more about the happenings of my fellow bloggers lives than I do.

Yeah, he loves reading your thoughts. It is a secret though, just between you and me, hee hee!

I am starting to get this whole b5 media Channel Editor thing down and have found my groove with my new A Hearty Life Blog. And I never have trouble writing about diabetes on Diabetes Notes. After all, I could always just reflect on myself, and don’t all women love to talk about themselves?

So, bottom line, I can now spend some time focusing on Gaga again and all your wonderful stories, gripes, bitches and tales. After all, ya’all make me feel normalcy and a sense of belonging. And isn’t that what blogging is about anyway? A passion with community!

Oh Mrs Butterworth, Aunt Jemima Must be So Jealous!

So, you wanna know how old I am? Let’s just say that on Saturday night, while at the beach with my 2 good friends from photo_050507_003.jpgcollege, we hunted down a Denny’s in the pouring down rain to chow down on some freakin’ pancakes! Uh huh, thats right! Cinco de Mayo and we were living it up with all the 80 and over crowd in OC, Maryland. But damn, were those pancakes good.

The weekend was soooo nice though. I got to hang out with 2 great friends and eat, eat, eat all the relaxing weekend long. Saturday was sunny and 75, perfect for reading and catching some sun on the sandy beach. Just the sound of the waves make you relax immediately.

We had a blast watching all the youngins’, that used to be us, frolic on the beach with each other. I am so glad I don’t have to push out the ol’ taters, suck in the gut and swish the ol’ junk in the trunk anymore. Nope none of that, but we did have a contest to see who’s stretch marks were the worst and who’s belly skin would hang down the farthest when bent over. Yeah, we are so HOT!

In our defense, we did have drinks at lunch and on Saturday afternoon, along with our Candy Kitchen purchase and Combos. Yummmmm! Then of course the whole Denny’s experience. That was the 3rd place we stopped to find our beloved round, buttery, sweet, lil’ pieces of heaven. And of course, Willy had her Razzzaaadanngoooo! (That would be Sprite, mango and raspberry juice)

And we were asleep by…..10:30. Molls snored all night, but I guess I will forgive her. She does have a 2 month old and is very sleep deprived! And we wrapped up the weekend with more food and shopping at the outlets. Very relaxing. It was a nice early Mother’s Day gift.

I must say we are married to some good men! They took care of 7 kids between the 3 of them and didn’t bother us 1 time with any complaints, questions or any others. They just said, “have a good time, enjoy yourselves, I love you and the kids are fine”. Not every man would do that. I know, I totally appreciate The Big Guy for being an awesome daddy and very giving hubby!

And he is kinda cute to top it off. Uh oh, I hear some bow chicka bow bow music playing in my crazy ass head. Oh hell, I am so easily swayed, how pitiful! LOL.

Quantity Or Quality?

1. Why do some people have to be such shits that you want to scream?

2. Why do people use each other and then when they have no more use for them, just decide they have had enough?

3. Do we get wiser with age, or just have more tolerance?

4. Why are women so damn persnickety at times?

5. Would you rather have a few close friends or a large amount of casual ones?

friends.jpgJust some questions that I was pondering over this afternoon. I am very fortunate to have a group of very close friends that I have had for years and years, some of them 30 plus years. We have seen each other through marriages, troubles with husbands, pregnancies, miscarriages, deaths of parents, deaths of our own children and countless other situations.

I would rather have close friends that would take a phone call at 3 in the morning, pick me up when I am stranded hours away, and watch over my kids with their whole hearts than casual ones of convenience.

What do ya’ all think. Maybe it because I am getting older, maybe it is because I am getting wiser!
